Pictured is a self-reminder, handcrafted in the heat of summer. Canvas, acrylic, Crayola greens, paper flowers, and Scrabble tiles. It now hangs above my bedroom window, inescapable as the morning sun.
Bloom Where Planted. A succinct reminder to never let my circumstances determine my destiny. To flourish in any situation. But in the words of every literary professor I’ve ever had, let’s unpack that.
There’s always something. We all have our stuff. We all have our situations and trials to endure. Recently, when I was stuck in a pit of my own stuff, I found my self thinking Lord, there’s no way around this. There is absolutely no way around this mess. I know, very glass-half-empty of me. But truth be told, I was right.
No matter what mess we find ourselves in, in order to benefit from it, we can’t look for the way around it. We have to go through it. Wherever we may find ourselves in life, we must take the resources around us and use them. Work with what we have. In a dry place in life? Be a desert flower.
No matter what is going on, there is always something to learn from your situation. Learning is growth. We learn, we change,
and thus we bloom.
Soon I’ll look back on these past two months. I might laugh, I might cringe, I may still want to cry. But I’ll remember that every trial, happening, and circumstance helped to shape and mold the Ro that I am today. No matter what occurred, I’ll always know that it was something I had to go through; it was something I had to grow through.
Bloom and be blessed!
